SUMMARY:Tying the Knot - 150 Years of Wedding Fashions
DESCRIPTION:The Tying the Knot exhibit features 20 wedding gowns\, dresses and ensembles that date from the 1870s all the way up to 2020. The exhibit emphasizes the tradition of the bride wearing white\, which was popularized by Queen Victoria at her marriage in February of 1840. and continues to this day. Come explore this unique exhibit and the past 150 years of wedding gown fashion! This exhibit will be on display until April 2024. $10 entry fee includes Museum guided tour.

SUMMARY:Quilt Lecture & Auction
DESCRIPTION:LECTURE – ‘Caring for Old and Treasured Quilts’\nJoin quilt historian Hallye Bone as she discusses the care\, cleaning and repair of old and treasured quilts. Attendees are invited to bring one of their own for verbal evaluation by Hallye. This presentation will feature unique antique quilts from the Campbell House collection. The lecture will be presented at 2 p.m.  Reservations are required (free) as seating is limited. Limited parking available on the Museum lot\, all street parking is free on Sundays. \nTo make a reservation for a lecture call: 314-421-0325 or click here: Quilts!\nAbout the presenter\nHallye Bone made her first quilt in 1967 and has never stopped quilting. Classes from Robert Bishop\, Curator of the American Folk Art Museum and at the St. Louis Art Museum taught her how to repair and store quilts and she began to repair quilts for clients and wrote for several \nHallye Bone\nquilting magazines. A St. Louis native\, she spent 12 years in Houston\, and taught in six quilt shops there. She studied to become a quilt appraiser and currently is an appraiser of quilted textiles\, certified by the American Quilter’s Society. Fascinated by quilt history\, she lectures\, teaches quilting and embroidery\, appraises quilts\, and repairs quilts. She is known for her books: “Caring for Your Quilts” and “Flower Dance\,” an applique/embroidery book that includes patterns for Victorian redwork embroidery. Hallye tries to piece and quilt every day and enjoys the wonderful quilters she has met in her forty year career.  \nSILENT AUCTION\nA online silent auction featuring four antique quilts will be held beginning July 2 and will conclude on July 16. The quilts on auction were donated to benefit the Campbell House Museum and are from the collection of Lynn Isenberg.
