SUMMARY:LECTURE: The Irish in St. Louis: From Shanty to Lace Curtain
DESCRIPTION:Join the Campbell House Museum to hear author\, Patrick Murphy discuss his new book\, “The Irish in St. Louis: From Shanty to Lace Curtain.”  The particular focus of his lecture will be on why so many Irish were attracted to St. Louis\, their struggle to overcome Nativist and anti-Catholic prejudices\, and how they eventually assimilated and impacted the St. Louis region. Included are the stories of Irishman Robert Campbell (1804-1879) and his son\, philanthropist Hugh Campbell (1847-1931).

SUMMARY:Garage Sale at St. Louis Zoo
DESCRIPTION:We are thrilled to partner with the St. Louis Zoo for our upcoming garage sale. Both institutions have a gift shop and thus have excess merchandise from years past\, both new and old. Help us make room for new inventory and support two wonderful institutions. You never know what goodies you may find!!  There will be many vintage items also— books\, magazines\, Christmas decor\, stained glass\, lighting and much more. \nYard Sale is Saturday\, March 18 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the St. Louis Zoo Living World Building. Gates open at 9 a.m.  \nAdmission to the St. Louis Zoo is free of charge\, but there is a $15 charge for parking. For a map of the zoo and more information about parking\, click here: St. Louis Zoo Parking \nWhy not make a day of it? Tours of the Campbell House will be available for $5 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. The Campbell House Museum is located at 1508 Locust St. Parking is available in the lot at 15th & Olive.  Street parking is available all around the Campbell House.
