SUMMARY:Victorian Ornament Making
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nJoin us on Sunday\, November 9 for a festive Victorian Ornament Making class! Learn how to craft traditional Victorian-style tree ornaments while learning the rich history of these holiday decorations. This intimate workshop offers a cozy\, hands-on holiday experience.  Participants will take home their handmade ornaments and materials for more\, perfect for adding vintage charm to your tree or gifting to loved ones. Limited space available\, and tickets are $35 a person. \nAll materials will be provided for the event; participants are encouraged to bring your own glue gun and scissors.

SUMMARY:Victorian Cooking Class
DESCRIPTION:Food historian and author of The Gilded Table Suzanne Corbett will host a cooking class showcasing a few of Virginia Campbell’s recipes. See first hand\, how to prepare three of Mrs. Campbell’s favorite dishes and taste them yourself! \nSlots limited to 20 in total and tickets are $75 per person. \n  \n\n\nAbout the instructor \n\n\n\n\nSuzanne Corbett was raised on a South St. Louis truck farm where her passion for food and historic foodways was born. Before becoming an award-winning writer\, cookbook author\, food historian/ foodways interpreter\, she began her culinary career as a caterer and culinary instructor teaching international cuisines\, baking\, classic gourmet\, and American cuisines with an emphasis on historic recipes and cooking techniques.  Focusing on research\, interpretation and writing\, Suzanne has established\, created\, and presented foodways programs at local\, regional\, and national historic sites. \n\nAbout the book \nA delectable read\, The Gilded Table is a collection of historic recipes spiced with Victorian dining traditions and fascinating family history.  The 224-page\, hard-cover publication spotlights the food\, culinary traditions and social decorum of 19th century America through the private home and social life of Robert and Virginia Campbell\, who were at the time\, one of St. Louis’ and Missouri’s wealthiest couples. Their luxurious parlor and dining table welcomed the likes of President and Mrs. Ulysses S. Grant; William Tecumseh Sherman; and engineer James B. Eads.
